Last Night: Arsenal 5 – 0 Porto

I decided to come home instead of going out to dinner with friends after university. Why? because my one love in life was playing in the UEFA Champion’s League. It was the 2nd leg of our last 16 round match against Porto. We went into the game with an away goal but we were 2-1 down and without are talisman Cesc Fabregas. To be honest, I expected us to lose and that would be pretty much be the end of our season. I’m so pessimistic when it comes to Arsenal these days but oh was I wrong. More on the flipside.

The game started off with Porto attacking us straight from kick-off and even that had me a little worried as the ‘Hulk’ was running at Clichy who has had a below-par season so far. We managed to overcome their attack and pretty much destroy them in the first 45 minutes. 70% Possession and 2 goals. Great play from my favourite Russian, Andrei Arshavin.

Watch the video above for full highlights from the game. They didn’t really test us again till the start of the 2nd half when we seemed a little shaky in posession but that didn’t last long. Samir Nasri scored an absolute beauty of a goal – picking up the ball just outside the area on the right hand side of the box and making his way through the box by some neat intricate dribbling past 3 defenders, then beating the keeper but a powerful shot towards the far post. Beautiful, words can’t describe it to be honest so watch this next clip:

We then scored again straight away from a counter-attack which involved Arshavin running at the defenders to setup everyone’s favourite player, Emmanuel Eboué. The counter-attacking goals remind me of the Arsenal of 2001-2005 that is the Arsenal which we all know and love. From there it was an easy game with Bendtner getting the a hat-trick, clinical striker? haha he had all the goals handed to him on a plate. I totally didn’t regret not going to eat with friends. It was most definitely worth it.

The slide is constructed from interlocking leather sections that wrap the foot with minimal contact, a cushioned leather and rubber outsole which is super comfy. I was going to save this video for this week’s eargasms post but the video turned out to be really creative itself. The song has been one of my favourites of 2010 so far, a real infectious hook with a good beat. It reminds me of the hopenhagen advert; similar effect with the torn photos overlapping each other. Definitely a dope video and it does the song justice. Check out the video after the cut.

B.o.B. is wearing a fresh BKC cardigan in the video (seen in image above) but not feeling the polo/shirt he’s got on, the color is a bit too dull for my liking. I’d totally rock what Bruno Mars is wearing. Also try and see if you can spot Alicia Keys and Lauren London’s photos in the overlapping photos of females.

Beautiful girls all over the world, I could be chasing but they’ve got nothing on you.

New Dork State Of Mind (Spoof)

This just made crease up in the library! I’ve started to hate the original because radio/Yang overplaying it pretty much ruined it for me. Sadly this video kinda describes me, I’m not going to lie about the fact that I’m a social media whore. Constant updates on my phone doesn’t help; in fact the first thing I check when I wake up is my Blackberry to see if I’ve recieved any messages. *embarrassed face* I’m on the Blogosphere and this post will get retweeted on Twitter and posted on Facebook.

Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness Alternative Music Video

Now this video is a more accurate representation of the song than the original. I love the way it’s filmed but at the same time it freaks me out. It’s mainly because of the way Kid Cudi is trapped in one room and not being able to get out. I’d hate to be in a situation like that! It’s like never being able to wake up from a nightmare, very trippy. This version is so much better than the original.

Wow is the first thing I said when I came across this artwork today, the artists name is Jim Kazanjian and I thought I would share this with you. You can tell this guy has great imagination when it comes to art, he has created an image that is beautiful, shocking and a little bit disturbing all at once. My favourite out of them all would be the first- the first thought that came to mind was the aftermath of the recent natural disasters that have brought Haiti, Chile and now Turkey to their knees. University Work – Poverty Awareness Campaign

Ok so we have to do two presentations tomorrow and one of which is we started today! yes you read right, TODAY. It’s quite embarrassing for me to admit but we were given the assignment back in October 09 and yet we only managed to have our first group meeting the day before we present. Even then only three of us ended up working on it properly as others had work & family duties but I think we’ve managed to get a satisfactory amount done in the 9 hours we spent in the library. I’ve attached my really quickly photoshopped work after the cut.

I really can’t be bothered to go into further detail about our idea because I am shattered, must sleep as soon as possible as our plan is to get to university extra early to add finishing touches/practice. I hope ya’ll can use some brain cells to figure out what our campaign is about! I hope we get a good grade. *touch wood*

Bit of background information on our chosen social issue:

Poverty – Defined in the dictionary, poverty is a state of being poor, indigence, lack of material things and finances.

- Almost half the world — over 3 billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.

- The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the 41 Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (567 million people) is less than the wealth of the world’s 7 richest people combined.

- Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.

– Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.

- 1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).

- The estimated number of child deaths worldwide each day linked to extreme poverty: 26,575 or one child every three seconds

I know everyone will be thinking ‘wtf’ with the food but it’s a dual-sided billboard campaign.

Iron Man 2 Trailer #2

I grew up watching Marvel and dreaming of waking up one day with super powers (I still do!) and Iron Man was always one of my favourite cartoons. The new trailer just dropped for the 2nd movie and it looks dope! so many good movies out this year. After watching the trailer; it makes me question why there are no billionaire vigilantes in the real world. I know I would be one if I had the money.

Bodega Meets Converse Poorman Sneaker

Bodega and Converse join forces to bring forth a redesigned converse that is limited edition- only 100 pairs available! I’m not really the fan of converse but I would definately be happy to get my hands on a pair of these. The upper is done in waxed canvas with a deerskin lining that can be revealed by rolling down the shoes higher than high top upper.
